Experience Days - Instead of the usual chocolates and teddy this year, why not organise an experience day for the two of you to enjoy. Regardless of which experience you decide to do with your loved one, one thing is certain, compared to a box of chocolates, cuddly teddy or bottle of wine, the experience day will be far more enjoyable.
Chores - You do not need to splash the cash to show someone how much you love them! Especially in the current financial situation when lots of people are struggling with money, this option could be the perfect alternative to spending money on overpriced gifts that will either be gone within a couple of days or sit collecting dust on the shelf for the next year. Why not take on some of their chores for the day, or even for the week! Why not agree to do a set amount of chores, for example how about you do all the cooking for the next few days, or you will hoover the house for the next week so that they can rest. Although, of course, you need to actually do what you say you will! It is pointless promising to do these tasks if you do not do any of them or moan about doing them while you are doing them.
